The Foundation begun in 2020 through initiating a motivation and reward program at Kanjeru Primary School in Kiambu County, Kenya.

Four reasons why need to partner with you

Kanjeru is a locality within Kiambu County in Kenya near the capital Nairobi.

Kanjeru is a locality within Kiambu County in Kenya near the capital Nairobi. The Kanjeru community is a vibrant community with many families who engage in farming and trade. Situated near Kanjeru along the Western By-pass is a sprawling slum known as ‘Shauri Yako’. There are over 2,000 families cramped up in this informal settlement. There are various vices and vulnerabilities within this slum including drug abuse, alcoholism, sexual promiscuity and physical abuse, child neglect and hunger to mention a few.

The school has developed an intervention where they provide one meal per day per students.

These societal vices and vulnerabilities have contributed to much pain in society particularly for children involved. Kanjeru Primary School is a public school located near this slum and enrolls a good number of its students from there. The school has developed an intervention where they provide one meal per day per students. This has attracted many children from the slum who would otherwise not attend school.

The Utana Foundation begun with this end in mind.

As expected, most of these students cannot afform the basics required for decent education, including uniform and school fees. Its incumbent on the community to lend a hand to such families. The Utana Foundation begun with this end in mind.

We believe we can change the community

Despite the insurmountable challenge, we believe we can change the community and the world, one child at a time. With your help and support, we can move this mountain.
